In 1996 the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections awarded the Adult Probation Department a Community Corrections Act Grant to supervise offenders who are diverted from jail or prison. In June 2011, the 129th General Assembly of the State of Ohio passed House Bill 86 to reduce the cost of corrections while maintaining and enhancing public safety. HB 86 included provisions to develop minimum standards for the training of adult probation officers.
