A resource is a main source or supply from which a benefit is produced and it has some utility. Resources can broadly be classified upon their availability — they are classified into renewable and non-renewable resources. Examples of non renewable resources are coal, crude oil natural gas etc. Examples of renewable resources are air, water, wind, solar energy etc. The resource-based view (RBV) is a managerial framework used to determine the strategic resources a firm can exploit to achieve sustainable competitive advantage.
